The bucket list is a fairly new concept to pop culture, but making a list of goals you want to accomplish in life is an age old tradition.

We reluctantly left Marfa on Thursday afternoon and headed out to Austin. We stopped at Pizza Foundation on our way out of town and fueled up for the drive. The pizza was delicious, but the cherry limeade? Ooh la la. Pizza Foundation –please send us some.

We had promised the Country Living Fair folk that we would arrive bright and early on Friday morning to set up our shop in time for the 8:30 opening on the first day. All of our neighbors had been setting up for two days, so we had to be there on time, be grateful, and make our little shop look great! The only place to rest along the way was the Walmart parking lot, so we caught a few zzzzz’s just outside Austin, woke up at 4:30 am, splashed a little water on our faces and finished the trip to the Travis County Fairgrounds.

We whipped our shop into shape in 90 minutes flat, introduced ourselves to our neighbors, and prepared ourselves for the onslaught of shoppers. We met hundreds of lovely southern ladies and gentlemen and noticed a few things:

After Palm Springs we had the wide open road ahead of us and 900 miles to Marfa – a town of 2,000 people in west Texas. We watched the landscape change from palms and sagebrush to cacti and tumbleweeds as we traveled east through Arizona (with a quick overnight visit with my beloved sister in Tucson) on our way to Texas.

As we manned our pop up shop at Palihotel a few weeks ago, we were less than two miles away from one of our favorite places:  Joan's on Third.

While we've been busy traveling the west and southwest, our friends at Atlas men's clothing have been busy setting up our Greenhouse shop in their store in Walnut Creek.  Altas + Greenhouse makes the perfect marriage, as we share a commitment to great service, and a passion for super stylish merchandise.   If you're in the East Bay (or even if you're not) stop by when you're in the neighborhood and see our Greenhouse treasures in person.  And maybe pick up something nice for your favorite man.

All along our epic road trip, our mission has been to bring our message and our product to the people, and to explore and enjoy Mother Nature's beauty along the way.

What is our message?  It's that it's OK not to be perfect, just make better choices each time, and that things for your home can be sustainable, and beautiful, and affordable all at the same time.

We've met many people who have gotten us, and what we're trying to do.  And today we met one person who didn't get us at all.

Mr. Green and I have been wanting to get out and meet some of our lovely greenhouse shoppers, and also to see some of the US that we haven’t seen by car, so we planned an epic road trip.

We've long been fans of the Ace Hotel chain -- they're from our former home, Seattle, and we stay at the Ace NYC when we can.   However, we now think the Ace Hotel and Swim Club in Palm Springs might be our new favorite.

We've been told it's obnoxious to be constantly posting pictures of food, but we don't care.  This salad was the most delicious thing we've had in a long time.  Organic heirloom tomatoes and basil, balsamic glaze and house made burrata with just a sprinkling of sea salt and ground pepper.  If you're in LA, go out of your way to visit Froma on Melrose and order this salad.  Then order another one to go so you can have it later.

It's no secret that we love to travel. And finding the perfect boutique and chic hotel is part of the fun. We have a new love: Palihotel on Melrose in LA.
